Membership Levels
Requirements

A State Member or a United National Member

In possession of a state license to practice as an LPCOR LPCA

In good standing with the State Licensure Board

Involved in clinical mental health counseling, research or education
Requirements

An unlicensed professional or mental health professional who possesses a master or doctorate degree with a major or minor in counseling or the social/behavioral sciences
-
Current active and/or working status in the mental/behavioral health field
Requirements

Be an individual with an interest in the area of clinical mental health counseling

Undergraduate students with confirmation of good standing may be an Affiliate member
Requirements

Was at some time an LPC
-
Fully retired from the counseling field or who practices for less than 25% (10 hours) per week
Requirements

Enrolled as a graduate student in a program that focuses on clinical mental health counseling, its research or education in a duly accredited institution of higher education

In good standing by their major professor taking a minimum of six hours

Membership Requirements
Dues: Explanation of State dues, National dues and Unified dues and Membership Year
State dues are established by the SCCMHCA Board of Directors, paid/renewed on an annual schedule based on the operating year of the Association. State only members are not National member to AMHCA. Payments are made to the treasurer and managed /tracked by the Membership committee.
National dues are paid directly to AMHCA (membership application is found on the AMHCA.org website). National dues are managed and tracked by the AMHCA and renewals are based on the date of application. National membership does not entitle state membership.
Unified dues are a combination of state and national dues, and are paid and renewed directly AMHCA (membership application found on AMHCA.org). AMCA reimburses the state portion of the dues. Unified dues vary per date of application.
APPLICATION AND ETHICS
Applications: Any person desiring to become a member shall complete an application
All applications must be completed entirely and require the applicant’s signature agreeing to the authenticity of the information, adherence to the Code of Ethics and an understanding of Bylaws. Clinical member must show proof of good standing with the South Carolina Licensure Board.
